Walls, ceilings, doors, and trim inside your home. Cowboy Painting LLC handles full house repaints, single rooms, and accent walls in Minnesota. Real prep, two coats, clean lines. Free on-site quote with no pressure to book.
Cowboy Painting LLC focuses on residential interior work in Minnesota. That means homes, apartments, condos, and small commercial spaces. We do single rooms, full house repaints, kitchens, basements, and everything between. The crew has been doing this for over 30 years.
Most of our work comes from referrals. Clients call us back when they move or when another room needs work. That tells us the prep is holding up and the paint is staying on the wall, which is the whole point.
Interior paint changes a room faster than any other upgrade. Done right, it lasts 7 to 10 years and looks clean the whole time. Done wrong, it peels at the corners within a year. The difference is prep work and the right product for the surface.
Fresh drywall and new construction need a different approach than repainting. The drywall mud is porous and pulls moisture from primer fast. We use drywall sealer first, then a tinted primer matched to the topcoat. This stops uneven coverage and bleed-through. After primer dries, we sand any rough spots, vacuum the dust, and apply two finish coats. The result is a smooth even surface with no flashing or roller marks. New construction painting is a full process, not just one coat over bare drywall.
Color selection on new walls is harder than people expect. Without existing trim or flooring to compare, samples often look different than imagined. We bring sample boards painted in your top three colors and view them in your actual lighting. Morning light, evening light, and overhead fixtures all change how a color reads. We also factor in the sheen. Flat hides imperfections but marks easy. Eggshell and satin clean better and work for hallways, kids rooms, and high traffic interior walls.
Whole house interior painting is the most efficient time to repaint. Furniture is usually already moved, the home is empty or close to it, and we can keep moving room to room without waiting. A full interior repaint of a 2,000 square foot home in Minnesota takes our crew four to seven days, including ceilings and trim. We schedule it so you can move back in fast. New homeowners often book this before furniture arrives, and it is the smart way to do it.
Repainting an existing interior is more about the prep than the paint. Old walls have nail holes, dings, scuffs, and small cracks that need filling. We patch with lightweight spackle for small holes and joint compound for larger repairs. After drying, we sand smooth, prime the patches, and only then apply finish coats. Skipping the priming step on patches is the most common reason patched spots show through paint. We do not skip it. Even on small jobs, the patched areas get a coat of primer first.
Touch ups on existing paint look easy but rarely match without effort. Sun exposure, age, and humidity change paint over time. A leftover can from two years ago will not blend invisibly. We test a small area first, and if needed, we repaint the full wall corner to corner instead of patching. This avoids the spotty look most touch ups leave behind. For high visibility walls in living rooms or hallways, repainting the entire wall section is the only way to get a clean result.
Color changes on interior walls take more product than people think. Going from light to dark needs two coats minimum, sometimes three. Going from dark to light usually requires a tinted primer plus two finish coats, otherwise the old color shows through. We tell you up front when a job needs primer, what brand we plan to use, and how many coats. Quotes include all of it. There are no add-on charges later for primer or extra coats. The price you see is the price you pay.
Minnesota interiors deal with more humidity swing than most states. Winters are dry from forced air heating, summers are humid, and the gap stresses paint. Cheap interior paint cracks and chips faster in this kind of cycle. We use mid-grade and premium products from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore depending on the room. Bathrooms and kitchens get moisture resistant paint with mildew protection. Bedrooms and living rooms get a quality matte or eggshell that holds up to cleaning without burnishing or losing its sheen.
Indoor air quality matters more than people think when picking interior paint. Older paints had high VOCs, the chemicals that off-gas for weeks after application. Modern low and zero VOC paints cost a bit more but are safer for kids, pets, and anyone with allergies. We default to low VOC products for interior work and use zero VOC when clients request it. The smell clears faster, and you can sleep in the room the same night without headaches. This is standard now, not a premium upgrade.
Long term, the right interior paint saves money. A cheap paint job that needs repainting in three years is more expensive than a quality job that lasts ten. We help clients pick products that match how the room is used. High traffic hallways and stairwells need scrubbable paint. Guest rooms can use lower-grade products. Putting premium paint in a closet wastes money. We walk through the house, point out what needs what, and write the quote with that breakdown included.
